1. Leads in the implementation and maintenance of complex databases on a variety of information technology platforms.
2. Leads in the development and execution of processes used to trouble shoot, backup and recover databases in the operational environment. Provides similar functions in support of business resumption and disaster recovery planning.
3. Performs evaluation, modification and integration functions associated with vendor supplied database software.
4. Develops and maintains database management documentation and operating procedures.
5. Provides leadership and training to employees with less experience.
6. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS: The types of IT and other skills needed to enter this job will be determined by the business needs of a hiring unit and will be identified in individual job requisitions. Typically, the job that could qualify for movement into this position is: IT Database Administrator.
7. PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES: Some employees may qualify for more responsible positions. Typical progression opportunities beyond this job include the following representative types of positions (not all inclusive): IT Lead Database Administrator.
Minimum Requirements:
IT related college degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
Preferred skills include experience with Quest and ITM Tivoli Monitoring tools, experience supporting highly available, high volume IBM UDB databases in a 24x7 environment. Must be able to work overtime and provide afterhours on-call support.
