Job Duties: Work with the business partners and management to lead efforts to identify the appropriate application of technology to solve business needs by reviewing, critiquing, and finalizing detailed requirements and specification documents.
Lead the development and review of Requests for Proposal while serving as the subject matter expert in the technical evaluation of products and services available in the marketplace. Also he/she will make recommendations concerning acquisition or internal development.
Lead in analyzing, designing, developing, testing, debugging and implementing new systems or modifications to existing systems.
Monitor trends in systems discrepancies and failures and determine solutions and assign corrective actions to minimize business impact to avoid future exposure.
Actively mentor technology personnel to promote knowledge growth within USAA"s workforce.

Requirements:
IT-related degree.
Background in major monitoring tool architectures, design, deployment, and maintenance.
Well versed in foundational technologies such as scripting languages (Perl, Awk/Sed, PHP, shell scripting, Windows scripting, etc,) operating systems to include major UNIX flavors, Windows, and ideally MVS/zOS, as well as networking and database technologies.
Demonstrate experience with large scale deployments of availability, performance, and capacity management tools (examples of desired toolset experience include Tivoli ITM, BMC Patrol, CA Unicenter, Managed Objects, and HP Openview.)
Deployment experience should include mass deployment/upgrades of agent technologies, monitoring/data collection parameter set deployment and management, as well as examples of where automation was utilized to ease the implementation process.

Preferred Requirements
Relate experience in tool deployments to secured environments such as behind DMZ.
Discuss solutions employed to overcome tool constraints (such as work-arounds or enhanced automation techniques).
Demonstrate experience in consolidation of event data sources into a single presentation layer.
Demonstrate experience on how the deployed environment was structured for ongoing management and maintenance.
Possess strong communication skills.
Proactive in addressing challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement, and be an overall self-starter.
