We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Configuration/Build Engineer to design and implement a Proof of Concept test for OPSWARE (configuration management tool); then proceed with the full implementation of the tool for Production use by our Platform Engineering and Deployment teams.
The primary roles of the Sr Software Configuration/Build Engineer are:. Work closely with vendor, internal Development, Platform Engineering and Deployment teams to implement an efficient configuration and application drift management solution across our OCS technology platforms. . Design and implement Configuration Management tactical solutions that will track baseline and provide metrics for all environmental configuration code changes.. Contribute to the configuration management plan.. Using the newly implemented configuration management tool, provide software configuration support for at least one (1) full SDLC implementation as a hands-on engineer; with complete responsibility for all software configuration requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must have direct, hands-on experience in designing and implementing a configuration management solution, across various platforms.Should demonstrate a solid understanding of configuration management best practice principles.
Strong hands-on experience with the following software configuration management tools: Opsware experience required; experience with N1, BMC, mValent tools preferred. Ability to assist in release engineering and build automation in a complex, commercial, web-based environment.
Strong understanding of producing deployable units for the J2EE environment (.war, .ear) Experience with build tools such as Ant and Maven.
Experience with clustering and high-availability systems Proficient with UNIX, preferably Solaris and Linux (Red Hat).
Proficient in scripting languages and shell programming; preferably python and perl.
Experience with ClearCase, CVS and Subversion preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently and with other team members as required.
Experience
5 or more years of experience with hands-on development of large, complex, configuration management efforts specifically involving multiple development teams and platforms.
