PURPOSE OF JOB
Provide technology solutions to meet business needs in the Data Warehouse (DW) / Business Intelligence (BI) space.


JOB DUTIES
1. In the role of Project Architect, provide architecture/design leadership on Data Warehouse (DW) / Business Intelligence (BI) efforts.
2. Facilitate JAD sessions with business to understand requirements and identify the needed BI solution (i.e. BI tool technology and data mart model/design strategy).
3. During project execution, facilitate technical discussion between application team, data modelers, and operation areas (DBA, server, storage, etc.) to implement solution.
4. Implements technology solutions at a detailed level by applying industry knowledge, best practices and architectural guidance to ensure system functionality and cost efficiencies.
5. Defines, documents and communicates the USAA target architecture, standards and best practices for a specific technology or solution domain.
6. Serves as the lead troubleshooter to diagnose systems technology issues in development and operational environments.
7. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS: Typically, the job that could qualify for movement into this position is - IT Lead Programmer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Performed lead DW Architect role on an Enterprise DW implementation or a large departmental DW implementation.
Experience architecting/designing large, complex Data Integration / ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes. This includes error/suspension handling, control processing, data cleansing, etc.
Experience architecting/designing near-real time data latent Operational Data Store (ODS) and/or DW.
Experience facilitating JAD sessions with business to understand requirements and identifying the needed BI solution (i.e. BI tool technology and data mart model/design strategy).
Knowledge about Financial Services industry (Bank, Investments, or Insurance).
Knowledge about dimensional data modeling concepts.
Excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skills with both business and IT communities.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with the following ETL tools; Informatica PowerCenter, IBM Data Stage.
Experience with the following Reporting / BI tools; Crystal Reports, MS Analysis Services.
Experience implementing DW/DM on the following Database platform; IBM UDB with Data Partition Facility (DPF) on Linux Red Hat.
Knowledge about IBM Information Framework (IFW) processes/models.
Knowledge about Data Mining concepts.
