PURPOSE OF JOB:
Develops business processes and improves existing ones to ensure stewardship of financials and desired operating state at USAA. Serves as a liaison between Business Units, Project Management, and IT organizations to facilitate technology and process changes required to support the product portfolio. Partners with these groups in the analysis of product and service needs and the subsequent design, build, testing and implementation of solutions for business initiatives. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the needs of Business Unit from both the business and technical perspective.
JOB DUTIES:
Lead and manages cross-functional, collaborative teams on process development or process improvement initiatives.
Provide Business Process Engineering (BPE) analysis of processes to identify areas of improvement and provide the appropriate analytics to the business management to enable business effort prioritization.
Work with leadership team to align BPE efforts with business strategies and
Activity Based Costing efforts.
Acts in an advisory capacity to management on business architecture. Communicates opportunities that enable businesses to thrive and achieve its business goals and objectives.
Meet/beat project savings targets. Maintains an understanding of company
financial goals and provides information on how business strategies and architecture impact financial goals.
Coach management through the BPE process to enable BPE culture. Mentors, provides guidance, and fosters growth of other business personnel in the BPE methodology.
Develop end customer focused metrics to enable process management through the "right" analytics.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Represents Business Unit in development initiatives related to the build and redesign of business solutions.
Partners with Business Unit and IT, to define business requirements for development. Reviews and manages detailed designs, ensuring that business requirements are met. Escalates unresolved issues that will negatively impact or prevent delivery of required solutions or related functionality.
Working with Business Unit participate in the development and execution of the implementation plan for deploying new functionality and solutions and/or product portfolio enhancements. Ensures that all potential impacts and issues are identified and addressed, including required work-arounds and mitigation plans.
As subject matter expert, may participate in development of communications and training related to the deployment of new products, product changes, and system functionality changes.
Provides on-going support for solution delivery, including researching and analyzing system-related, procedural, compliance or legal problems or issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum 3+ years Process Improvement/Program Management experience, or other related experience
Strong, proven ability to communicate, facilitate and influence across all levels of the company
Proven ability to formulate plans and execute complex solutions .
Must be well organized and able to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and initiatives in a demanding environment.
Ability to work independently with little supervision. Must be flexible, people oriented and able to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated strong analytical and decision making skills that foster developing creative solutions and supports USAA operating goals.
Proven ability to execute process improvement projects (DMAIC, Triage, COE) and leading business initiatives and developing business deliverables including the ability to define, develop, and document requirements.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
PREFERRED:
Certified Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt from a known 6 Sigma Program (i.e., GE, Honeywell, Motorola, Toyota, etc.).
Ability to demonstrate work experience using the 6 Sigma skill set.
Broad financial services industry experience
Experience writing functional requirements in a technology environment.
