Oversee systems administration team of the platform engineering group ensuring effective workflow and system responsibilities are completed for a real-time trading platform while providing guidance, training and technical leadership
Expected to carry a blackberry, participate in on-call rotation, occasional weekend maintenance work.

This is an excellent opportunity for an IT Manager with solid systems administration experience to be the hands-on manager of a platform team. The rewards and challenges this opportunity offers are unique the chance to manage this growing team of 5 IT professionals (systems administrators and DBAs) supporting a critical real-time trading environment while helping develop the team and improve workflow as our business expands. This position reports to the senior IT manager in the Minnetonka, MN office and is responsible for day to day maintenance and operations of all of Clients systems operating environments (Sun/Solaris, RHEL linux, and Windows).

The primary responsibility of the individual in this role is the management of the Systems Administration team ensuring the team completes projects and business requirements on time in support of business requirements. In addition, the individual will also be expected to remain a hands-on UNIX System Administrator, working closely with the rest of the team in the maintenance and upkeep of the client environment. This consists of a mix of Solaris, RedHat Enterprise Linux, and Windows 2000/2003 servers which run parts of and provide infrastructure services to a real-time trading environment. These infrastructure services include a QIP infrastructure for DNS, several Oracle servers on Sun hardware, a Legato Networker backup infrastructure, and numerous monitoring tools/scripts/services (Nagios, RTG, BigBrother, etc). The environment also includes two NetApp filers, ADIC DLT and LTO tape libraries, and other equipment. Veritas Volume Manager is used extensively.


Regular duties will run the gamut of UNIX systems administration experiences, from direct user support to engineering a multi-site real-time replicated file system in support of a new trading system. Additional work will include writing scripts to improve/extend monitoring and maintenance systems, assisting with the planning for growth projects, and working with others in implementing Citigroup audit and compliance information-security standards within the environment in addition to other related tasks.

3+ years experience managing a team of 3-10 staff in an operational environment
6+ years systems administration experience with Sun/Solaris, including exposure to Veritas disk mgmt
3+ years systems administration experience Linux, preferably RHEL
Extensive scripting expertise in Perl
Friendly demeanor, customer-oriented attitude, and comfort with direct end-user support where appropriate
Demonstrable ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; able to document work, keep tickets updated, and draft basic project plans
3+ years experience with Windows NT/2000/XP domain administration in a mixed/heterogeneous environment
Oracle DBA experience
Netapp filer administration
