Short Description:
The primary goal of the Technical Writer will be to facilitate the gathering, organization, publication, and maintenance of all requirements related to products developed by the R D organization. Complete Description:
SUMMARY:
Work with cross-functional team (Engineering, Medical, Marketing, Regulatory, QA, Management, Testing) to determine product requirements and create clear and concise requirements documents in a timely manner.
Support project requirements nFeeds.
Use DOORS and Word to publish requirements documents.
Support Traceability efforts of the Product Assurance (PAS) group. (For projects in DOORS, this includes setting up links between requirements modules and publishing the Trace Matrix view for the PAS group to include in their Trace Matrix document.)
Review/analyze/research requirements-related software change requirements (SCRs) to present to the team for discussion/resolution

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technical writer and 3 years of authoring requirements.
Minimum of 40 WPM typing is required.
The applicant must be proficient in Word and DOORS (or similar applications).
They must communicate well both one-on-one and in groups. This requires excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to drive the team to decisions while managing conflicts and facilitating resolutions among the team.
They must work well as a team member and be willing to step in and help other team members if workloads demand it.
They must be flexible as priorities often change on a daily basis.
They must be able to work quickly and accurately.
They must be able to take accurate minutes of group discussions.
Basic knowledge of software engineering is a plus, but not required.

The day-to-day challenges of this position include: aggressive deadlines, multiple deadlines on parallel projects coinciding with each other, scheduling overbooked project team members for team meetings, gaining agreement from the necessary parties for proposes solutions. The analyst will be required to research requirements-related issues and present their findings to the project team for decision.

This position requires the collection of information from various sources (Engineering, Medical, Marketing, etc.) and the processing of it into concise requirements verbiage. It also requires the analysis of SCRs to determine the requirements related to reported problems as well of analysis of SCR root causes to present requirements metrics to upper management.

This position contributes to project decisions which are made by the cross-functional project team members and documented by the person in this position. This position can determine if an SCR s resolution is of editorial nature, thereby requiring no cross-functional team approval. Supervisory review is done on all documents published by this position prior to routing for signature. This position can perform the supervisory review on documents published by other analysts.
