Essential Job Functions:

Commitment to the finding effective solutions and resolving complex
issues associated with Cognos usage by the user community and other team
members.

Use Cognos server administration tool to perform administrative tasks.

Troubleshooting and resolving issues using the Cognos log message
facility.

Continuously work on performance tuning and optimization using load
balancing and distributed hardware architecture.

Coordinate with external project resources, including configuration
management and Operations Engineering.

Communicate task progress and issues to management and project sponsor.

Drive architecture decisions in small to medium sized projects.
Coordinate with dedicated Architects on larger and more complex projects.

Ensure compliance with standard software development practices, processes
and enterprise standards.

Define, design, develop and deliver flexible reports that meet business
user needs

Adheres to a SDLC as part of the development activities

Execute business requirements in a COGNOS environment, insuring data
security, user friendly reports with drill-thru features.

Verify correctness and completeness of data model, data relationships,
mappings, and definition.

Provide day-to-day support for all COGNOS users.

Provide recommendations based on COGNOS audit/monitoring reports.

Coordinate technical maintenance of COGNOS applications including
necessary upgrades for reporting applications with IT.

Process improvement for delivering reports to end users

Develop design documentation, Installation Guides and Release Notes for
all development efforts

Education / Experience Requirements:

Bachelor s degree in computer science or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 8-10 years experience in data centric report administration development -- specifically engaging business intelligence, data warehouse
projects, business intelligence tools such as COGNOS, understanding of dimensional models, analytics and reporting, business analysis, data
analysis, logical data modeling highly desirable.

Minimum of 5 years of experience with the Cognos Business Intelligence platform, with at least 3 years of experience with Cognos ReportNet/8.

Minimum of 3 years experience of Cognos administration, UNIX, SQL Server and Oracle Database experience. Must have very good architectural
understanding of the Cognos distributed environment on a UNIX/windows platform with experience with upgrading, configuring and administrating
Cognos products.

Extensive hands-on experience with troubleshooting performance issues associated with COGNOS ReportNet 1.1 (MR2/MR3).

Experience in using administrating tools for Windows and UNIX is a must.

Experience with OLAP, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis is necessary, along with an understanding of databases and database connectivity.

Substantial experience and expertise in using COGNOS ReportNet tool in the areas of Metadata, Portal and User management administration, creating
simple and complex reports. Extensive experience in the areas of implementing and managing reporting tool governors and reporting environment
usage with built in and custom mechanisms. Hands on experience in managing and monitoring reporting servers/modules.

Experience with Cognos ReportNet and Series 8 BI is preferred

Experience migrating Cognos Series 7 reports to ReportNet is preferred

Experience in creating reports, portal customization and unit testing.

Demonstrated ability to delivery software projects of high complexity and risk

Proven ability to negotiate competing features with customers, ensuring an achievable commitment.

Outstanding communication, organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills

Certification with COGNOS Tool set is a plus

Experience working with large scale, complex system (data structure and usage, reporting requirements, interfaces with other systems) in a corporate
setting.

Minimum of 1 year experience with Cognos Software Development Kit (SDK) - REQUIRED

Java is a strong plus

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to work on simultaneous projects and capable of rapidly responding to production related issues

Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills



Additional Notes:

Candidate will need to be a tool guru and have strong knowledge of the Cognos SDK toolkit

Should be able to understand how ReportNet works and integrates with 3rd party products

Should have an understanding of the architecture of the tool

Looking for someone who has done pure COGNOS ReportNet Admin - NOT a developer who has had admin responsibilities.
